Health and safety policy

Elmwood Protection Services recognises that employees are our most valuable asset and that the provision of a safe and healthy working environment is integral to successful business performance and sustained growth.

We accept our responsibility to protect the health, safety and welfare of our employees, sub-contractors, visitors and anyone who may be affected by the company’s operations.

All staff share responsibility for achieving safe working conditions and each member of staff must take care of their own health and safety and that of others, observe applicable safety rules and follow instructions for the safe use of equipment.

We shall provide the necessary resources for the successful implementation of our health and safety procedures which will, as a minimum, comply with relevant statutory legislation and conform to BS EN ISO 45001:2018.

The Directors have overall responsibility for ensuring the successful implementation of the health and safety policy and is assisted by the Elmwood Protection Services Senior Management Team and the Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Manager. All levels within our management structure have clear roles and responsibilities for managing Health and Safety as defined within the company Health and Safety Policy.

It is the express policy of the company to:

  • Assess Health and Safety hazards associated with its operations, implement a process of risk assessment and develop controls to minimise the possibility of injury or ill-health to our employees & anyone who may be affected by our operations.
  • Promote a vibrant health and safety culture through consultation with, and active involvement of employees or their representatives in identifying risks and agreeing safe control measures.
  • Provide plant and equipment that is safe, without risk and is properly maintained.
  • Provision of welfare facilities and/or necessary arrangements to access adequate welfare.
  • Monitor performance against objectives and publish the results annually in line with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Continually improve the effectiveness of the health and safety management procedures to prevent injury and ill health.
  • Provide information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure that personal responsibilities are discharged in a safe, reliable and competent manner.
  • Ensure that all employees, subcontractors and visitors are aware of their personal responsibilities.
  • Ensure that all employees, subcontractors and visitors are aware of incident reporting procedures.
  • Ensure the use, handling, storage and transportation of substances is managed and safe.

The Policy shall be communicated to all persons working for or on behalf of Elmwood Protection Services and will be prominently displayed to ensure all personnel understand Elmwood Protection Services commitment to Health and Safety. This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it reflects the organisations current priorities, plans & targets for Health and Safety management.
